Seattle, Washington
When asked what (5) things define Seattle, one thing surely on the list would be iconic Dick’s Drive In! Since 1954, Dick’s has been serving burgers and impeccable fries to Seattleites well into the night from their seven outposts in and around the greater Seattle region. The design has virtually stayed the same since the first drive-in opened in Wallingford, with updates for efficiency, equipment, lighting, and materials. The newest location in Kent boasts 4,000 square feet that include a full kitchen, back support area, front service counter, and parking for 100 cars. The familiar and beloved orange and white sign draws customers into a brightly lit parking area where they can place their orders at the external counter positioned for ordering and pick-up. In May, SmithCo and Schuchart Construction will receive a design and construction excellence award from the Associated General Contractors of Washington for the Kent location and the latest addition to the Dick’s Drive In regional chain.
